Bhutan is a small Himalayan nation situated between China and India. From low plains in the south to tall snow-capped mountains in the north, the terrain increases dramatically. Bhutan boasts a wide variety of scenery, from dense woods and rivers to towering mountain peaks, as a result of this enormous variation in elevation.
The climate of Bhutan varies from south to north. Particularly during the summer monsoon, the southern regions see high temperatures and copious amounts of precipitation. Warm summers and chilly winters characterize the colder, temperate climate of the central valleys, such as Thimphu. The northern regions are mostly blanketed in snow and quite chilly. The nation receives 2,000 mm of rain annually on average, with regional variations in temperature ranging from 12°C to 22°C. There are four distinct seasons in Bhutan: a temperate spring, a rainy summer, a clear autumn, and a chilly winter.
